ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਜਾਟਰੋ ਉਠਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਗਾ ॥

Hearing this, Dhanna the Jaat applied himself to devotional worship.
|
|
ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਧੰਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
|
milae prathakh gusaaeeaa dhhannaa vaddabhaagaa ||4||2||
|
The Lord of the Universe met him personally; Dhanna was so very blessed. ||4||2||

ਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਕੀ ਨ ਦਯਾਲ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਬਿਬਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਈ ॥
|
rae chith chaethas kee n dhayaal dhamodhar bibehi n jaanas koee ||
|
O my consciousness, why don't you remain conscious of the Merciful Lord? How can you recognize any other?
|
|
ਜੇ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
|
jae dhhaavehi brehamandd khandd ko karathaa karai s hoee ||1|| rehaao ||
|
You may run around the whole universe, but that alone happens which the Creator Lord does. ||1||Pause||

ਜਨਨੀ ਕੇਰੇ ਉਦਰ ਉਦਕ ਮਹਿ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਕੀਆ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
|
jananee kaerae oudhar oudhak mehi pindd keeaa dhas dhuaaraa ||
|
In the water of the mother's womb, He fashioned the body with ten gates.
|
|
ਦੇਇ ਅਹਾਰੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਐਸਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
|
dhaee ahaar agan mehi raakhai aisaa khasam hamaaraa ||1||
|
He gives it sustenance, and preserves it in fire - such is my Lord and Master. ||1||
|
|
ਕੁੰਮੀ ਜਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪੰਖ ਖੀਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
|
kunmee jal maahi than this baahar pankh kheer thin naahee ||
|
The mother turtle is in the water, and her babies are out of the water. She has no wings to protect them, and no milk to feed them.
|
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
|
pooran paramaanandh manohar samajh dhaekh man maahee ||2||
|
The Perfect Lord, the embodiment of supreme bliss, the Fascinating Lord takes care of them. See this, and understand it in your mind||2||

ਪਾਖਣਿ ਕੀਟੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਤਾ ਤਾ ਚੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
|
paakhan keett gupath hoe rehathaa thaa cho maarag naahee ||
|
The worm lies hidden under the stone - there is no way for him to escape.
|
|
ਕਹੈ ਧੰਨਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਮਤ ਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਂਹੀ ॥੩॥੩॥
|
kehai dhhannaa pooran thaahoo ko math rae jeea ddaraanhee ||3||3||
|
Says Dhanna, the Perfect Lord takes care of him. Fear not, O my soul. ||3||3||

ਆਸਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਦਿਲਹੁ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੇਈ ਸਚਿਆ ॥

dhilahu muhabath jinnh saeee sachiaa ||
|
They alone are true, whose love for God is deep and heart-felt.
|
|
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਿ ਕਾਂਢੇ ਕਚਿਆ ॥੧॥
|
jinh man hor mukh hor s kaandtae kachiaa ||1||
|
Those who have one thing in their heart, and something else in their mouth, are judged to be false. ||1||
|
|
ਰਤੇ ਇਸਕ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕੇ ॥
|
rathae eisak khudhaae rang dheedhaar kae ||
|
Those who are imbued with love for the Lord, are delighted by His Vision.
|
|
ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇ ਭੁਇ ਭਾਰੁ ਥੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
|
visariaa jinh naam thae bhue bhaar thheeeae ||1|| rehaao ||
|
Those who forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are a burden on the earth. ||1||Pause||
|

ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਰਿ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਸੇ ॥
|
aap leeeae larr laae dhar dharavaes sae ||
|
Those whom the Lord attaches to the hem of His robe, are the true dervishes at His Door.
|
|
ਤਿਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਉ ਆਏ ਸਫਲੁ ਸੇ ॥੨॥
|
thin dhhann janaedhee maao aaeae safal sae ||2||
|
Blessed are the mothers who gave birth to them, and fruitful is their coming into the world. ||2||
|
|
ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗਮ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੂ ॥
|
paravadhagaar apaar agam baeanth thoo ||
|
O Lord, Sustainer and Cherisher, You are infinite, unfathomable and endless.
|
|
ਜਿਨਾ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚੁੰਮਾ ਪੈਰ ਮੂੰ ॥੩॥
|
jinaa pashhaathaa sach chunmaa pair moon ||3||
|
Those who recognize the True Lord - I kiss their feet. ||3||
|
|
ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਤੂ ਬਖਸੰਦਗੀ ॥
|
thaeree paneh khudhaae thoo bakhasandhagee ||
|
I seek Your Protection - You are the Forgiving Lord.
|
|
ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੈ ਖੈਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੰਦਗੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
|
saekh fareedhai khair dheejai bandhagee ||4||1||

Please, bless Shaykh Fareed with the bounty of Your meditative worship. ||4||1||

ਬੋਲੈ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਲਹ ਲਗੇ ॥

bolai saekh fareedh piaarae aleh lagae ||
|
Says Shaykh Fareed, O my dear friend, attach yourself to the Lord.
|
|
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਖਾਕ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਗੋਰ ਘਰੇ ॥੧॥
|
eihu than hosee khaak nimaanee gor gharae ||1||
|
This body shall turn to dust, and its home shall be a neglected graveyard. ||1||
|
|
ਆਜੁ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਟਾਕਿਮ ਕੂੰਜੜੀਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਮਚਿੰਦੜੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

aaj milaavaa saekh fareedh ttaakim koonjarreeaa manahu machindharreeaa ||1|| rehaao ||
|
You can meet the Lord today, O Shaykh Fareed, if you restrain your bird-like desires which keep your mind in turmoil. ||1||Pause||

ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਘੁਮਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥
|
jae jaanaa mar jaaeeai ghum n aaeeai ||
|
If I had known that I was to die, and not return again,
|
|
ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਲਗਿ ਨ ਆਪੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
|
jhoothee dhuneeaa lag n aap vanjaaeeai ||2||
|
I would not have ruined myself by clinging to the world of falsehood. ||2||
|
|
ਬੋਲੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਨ ਬੋਲੀਐ ॥
|
boleeai sach dhharam jhooth n boleeai ||
|
So speak the Truth, in righteousness, and do not speak falsehood.
|
|
ਜੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਸੈ ਵਾਟ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਜੋਲੀਐ ॥੩॥
|
jo gur dhasai vaatt mureedhaa joleeai ||3||
|
The disciple ought to travel the route, pointed out by the Guru. ||3||
|
|
ਛੈਲ ਲੰਘੰਦੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਗੋਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਿਆ ॥
|
shhail langhandhae paar goree man dhheeriaa ||
|
Seeing the youths being carried across, the hearts of the beautiful young soul-brides are encouraged.
|
|
ਕੰਚਨ ਵੰਨੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਲਵਤਿ ਚੀਰਿਆ ॥੪॥
|
kanchan vannae paasae kalavath cheeriaa ||4||
|
Those who side with the glitter of gold, are cut down with a saw. ||4||
|
|
ਸੇਖ ਹੈਯਾਤੀ ਜਗਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
|
saekh haiyaathee jag n koee thhir rehiaa ||
|
O Shaykh, no one's life is permanent in this world.
|
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਆਸਣਿ ਹਮ ਬੈਠੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੈਸਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੫॥
|
jis aasan ham baithae kaethae bais gaeiaa ||5||
|
That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5||
|
|
ਕਤਿਕ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ ਚੇਤਿ ਡਉ ਸਾਵਣਿ ਬਿਜੁਲੀਆਂ ॥
|
kathik koonjaan chaeth ddo saavan bijuleeaaan ||
|
As the swallows appear in the month of Katik, forest fires in the month of Chayt, and lightning in Saawan,
|
|
ਸੀਆਲੇ ਸੋਹੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਿਰ ਗਲਿ ਬਾਹੜੀਆਂ ॥੬॥
|
seeaalae sohandheeaaan pir gal baaharreeaaan ||6||
|
and as the bride's arms adorn her husband's neck in winter;||6||
|
|
ਚਲੇ ਚਲਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਲੇਇ ਮਨੋ ॥
|
chalae chalanehaar vichaaraa laee mano ||
|
Just so, the transitory human bodies pass away. Reflect upon this in your mind.
|
|
ਗੰਢੇਦਿਆਂ ਛਿਅ ਮਾਹ ਤੁੜੰਦਿਆ ਹਿਕੁ ਖਿਨੋ ॥੭॥
|
gandtaedhiaaan shhia maah thurrandhiaa hik khino ||7||
|
It takes six months to form the body, but it breaks in an instant. ||7||
|
|
ਜਿਮੀ ਪੁਛੈ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖੇਵਟ ਕਿੰਨਿ ਗਏ ॥
|
jimee pushhai asamaan fareedhaa khaevatt kinn geae ||
|
O Fareed, the earth asks the sky, ""Where have the boatmen gone?""
|
|
ਜਾਲਣ ਗੋਰਾਂ ਨਾਲਿ ਉਲਾਮੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਹੇ ॥੮॥੨॥
|
jaalan goraan naal oulaamae jeea sehae ||8||2||
|
Some have been cremated, and some lie in their graves; their souls are suffering rebukes. ||8||2||
