They endure suffering themselves but pour happiness on the world.

ਫਲ ਦੇ ਲਾਹਨਿ ਭੁਖ ਵਟ ਵਗਾਇਆ।

Fal Day Laahani Bhukh Vat Vagaaiaa |

Even on being stoned, they offer fruits and quench our hunger.

ਛਾਵ ਘਣੀ ਬਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਚਾਇਆ।

Chhaav Ghanee Bahi Sukh Manu Prachaaiaa |

Their shadow is so thick that the mind (and body) enjoys peace.

ਵਢਨਿ ਆਇ ਮਨੁਖ ਆਪ ਤਛਾਇਆ।

Vaddhani Aai Manukh Aapu Tachhaaiaa |

If someone cuts them, they offer to be sawed.

ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹੀ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
