ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਸਦਾਵੈ।
Gur Chaylaa Chaylaa Guroo Guru Sikh Suni Gurasikhu Sadaavai |
Having listened to the teachings of the Guru the disciple and the Guru become one (in form and spirit).
ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੨੮ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੬ ਪੰ. ੧
ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਣਾ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਵਰਜਿ ਰਹਾਵੈ।
Ik Mani Iku Araadhnaa Baahari Jaandaa Varaji Rahaavai |
He with single mind adores the one Lord and keeps his straying mind under control.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਖਸਮੈ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ।
Hukamee Bandaa Hoi Kai Khasamai Daa Bhaanaa Tisu Bhaavai |
He becomes obedient servant of the lord and loves His will and command.
ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੨੮ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੬ ਪੰ. ੩
ਮੁਰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਸੋਇ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਗੋਰਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ।
Muradaa Hoi Mureed Soi Ko Viralaa Guri Gori Samaavai |
Any rare Sikh becoming disciple be a dead person enters the guru-grave.

ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪਾਖਾਕੁ ਹੋਇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਾਵੈ।
Pairee Pai Paakhaaku Hoi Pairaan Upari Seesu Dharaavai |
Falling on the feet and becoming dust of the feet, he reposes his head on the feet of the Guru.

ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਆਪੁ ਹੋਇ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ।
Aapu Gavaaay Aapu Hoi Doojaa Bhaau N Nadaree Aavai |
Becoming one with Him he loses his ego and now the sense of duality is nowhere visible with him.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖੀ ਗੁਰੁਸਿਖ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧੬॥
Guru Sikhee Guru Sikhu Kamaavai ||16 ||
Such an accomplishment is had only by Sikh of the Guru.
