ਕਸਿੇ ਥੋੜਾ ਕਸਿੇ ਅਗਲਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੇ ਤਸਿ ਸੋਗ ॥ (੯)

Kasē thōṛā kasē aglā sadā rahē tasi sōg ॥ (9)

More to some and scanty to others, he, for ever, remains in affliction.(9)

ਕੜਾਹ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੀ ਬਿੱਧ ਸੁਣ ਲੀਜੈ

Kaṛāh prrasādi kī biddh suṇ lījai

Listen to the procedure of preparing consecrated pudding.

ਤੀਨ ਭਾਂਤ ਕੋ ਸਮਸਰ ਕੀਜੇ ॥ (੧੦)

Tīn bhānt kō samsar kījē ॥ (10)

Take three components in equal quantity.(10)

ਲੇਪ ਣ ਆਗੇ ਬਹੁਕਰ ਦੀਜੈ

Lēp ṇa āgē bahukar dījai

After brooming, mud-plastering the floor,

ਮਾਂਜਣ ਧਰ ਭਾਂਜਣ ਧੋਵੀਜੈ ॥ (੧੧)

Māñjaṇ dhar bhāñjaṇ dhōvījai ॥ (11)

And using the scrubber, wash all the utensils.(11)

ਕਰਿ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ੍ਰ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੇ

Kari isanān pavitrrr hōi bahē

Then take the bath and come forward all clean,

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬਿਨ ਅਵਰ ਨਾ ਕਹੇ ॥ (੧੨)

Vāhigurū bin avar nā kahē ॥ (12)

And, except Vaheguru, the Almighty, utter nothing else.(12)

ਨਵਤਨ ਕਸਿੰਭ ਪੂਰ ਜਲ ਲੇਹ

Navtan kasimbh pūr jal lēh

Take a pitcherful of fresh water,

ਗੋ ਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਫਲ ਤਿਨ ਦੇਹ ॥ (੧੩)

Gō bind siṅgh saphal tin dēh ॥ (13)

Then, Gobind Singh says, he will be physically fit.(13)

ਕਰਿ ਤਿਆਰ ਚੌਕੀ ਪਰ ਧਰੇ

Kari tiār chaukī par dharē

After preparing it, place it on a stool,

ਚਾਰ ਓਰ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਬਹਿ ਕਰੇ ॥ (੧੪)

Cār ōr kīratan bahi karē ॥ (14)

With holy hymns flowing in all the four directions.(14)

ਮੋ ਹਰ ਤੁਰਕ ਕੀ ਸਿਰ ਧਰੇ ਲੋਹ ਲਗਾਵੈ ਚਰਨ

Mō har turak kī sir dharē lōh lagāvai charan

One who bows his head to a Turk (enemy) and surrenders his sword at his feet,

ਕਹੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਣੋ ਲਾਲ ਜੀ ਫਿਰ ਫਿਰ ਹੋਏੇ ਤਸਿ ਮਰਨ ॥ (੧੫)

Kahai gōbind siṅgh suṇō lāl jī phir phir hōē tasi maran ॥ (15)

Gobind Singh says, “Listen Lal Jee, he runs into the cycle of life and death.”(15)

ਲਗੈ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਸੁਣ ਮੂਲ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੈ

Lagai dīvān suṇ mūl nā jāvai

One who never goes to the divine congregation,

ਰਹਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਰ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਰਤਾਵੈ ॥ (੧੬)

Rahi binā prrrasādi vartāvai ॥ (16)

And distributes sacred pudding withtout proper conduct.(16)

ਸੂ ਹਾ ਪਹਿਣ ਲਏੇ ਨਸਵਾਰ

Sū hā pahiṇ laē nasvār

One who wears red (shining clothes) and takes snuff,

ਕਹੇ ਗੋਬਦਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਮ ਕਰੇ ਖਵਾਰ ॥ (੧੭)

Kahē gōbdi siṅgh jam karē khavār ॥ (17)

Gobind Singh says, he will be punished by the Yama of death.(17)

ਮਾਇ ਬੈਣ ਜੋ ਆਵੈ ਸੰਗਤਿ

Māi baiṇ jō āvai saṅgti

When sisters and mothers come to the congregation,

ਦ੍ਰ੍ਰਸਿ਼ਟ ਬੁਰੀ ਦੇਖੈ ਤਸਿ ਪੰਗਤ ॥ (੧੮)

Drrasiaṭ burī dēkhai tasi paṅgat ॥ (18)

One who casts an evil eye at their row,(18)

ਸਿਖ ਹੋਇ ਜੋ ਕਰਤ ਕਰੋਧ

Sikh hōi jō karat karōdh

And being a Sikh, if he renders wrath,

ਕੰ ਨਿਆ ਮੂਲ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇ ਸੋਧ ॥ (੧੯)

Kan niā mūl nā dēvē sōdh ॥ (19)

(He) loses the respect which a daughter could endow.(19)
