ਚੜੇ ਬੀਰ ਧੀਰੰ ॥

Charhe Beera Dheeraan ॥

They were all mighty warriors and most tenacious.

ਬੜੇ ਇਖੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

Barhe Eikhu Dhaaree ॥

They were great archers

ਘਟਾ ਜਾਨ ਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੧॥

Ghattaa Jaan Kaaree ॥11॥

And marched forward like dark clouds.11.

ਬਾਣਿ ਜਿਤੇ ਰਾਛਸਨਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਛਾਡਤ ਭਏ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

Baani Jite Raachhasani Mili Chhaadata Bhaee Apaara ॥

The arrows showered by all the demons together in great numbers,

ਫੂਲਮਾਲ ਹੁਐ ਮਾਤ ਉਰਿ ਸੋਭੇ ਸਭੇ ਸੁਧਾਰ ॥੧੨॥

Phoolamaala Huaai Maata Auri Sobhe Sabhe Sudhaara ॥12॥

Became a garland the neck of the goddess (the universal mother), bedecking it.12.

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਜਿਤੇ ਦਾਨਵੌ ਬਾਨ ਪਾਨੀ ਚਲਾਏ ॥

Jite Daanvou Baan Paanee Chalaaee ॥

All the shafts shot by the demons with their hands,

ਤਿਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਬਚਾਏ ॥

Tite Devataa Aapi Kaatte Bachaaee ॥

Were intercepted by the goddess to protect herself.

ਕਿਤੇ ਢਾਲ ਢਾਹੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਪਾਸ ਪੇਲੇ ॥

Kite Dhaala Dhaahe Kite Paasa Pele ॥

Many were thrown on the ground with her shield and many were entrapped within the baited trap.

ਭਰੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੋਹੂ ਜਨੋ ਫਾਗ ਖੇਲੈ ॥੧੩॥

Bhare Basatar Lohoo Jano Phaaga Kheli ॥13॥

ਦ੍ਰੁਗਾ ਹੂੰ ਕੀਯੰ ਖੇਤ ਧੁੰਕੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥

Darugaa Hooaan Keeyaan Kheta Dhuaanke Nagaare ॥

The trumpets sounded and Durga began to wage war.

ਕਰੰ ਪਟਿਸੰ ਪਰਿਘ ਪਾਸੀ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥

Karaan Pattisaan Parigha Paasee Saanbhaare ॥

She had pattas, axes and baits in her hands

ਤਹਾ ਗੋਫਨੈ ਗੁਰਜ ਗੋਲੇ ਸੰਭਾਰੈ ॥

Tahaa Gophani Gurja Gole Saanbhaarai ॥

She caught of pellet bow, mace and pellets.

ਹਠੀ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥੧੪॥

Hatthee Maara Hee Maara Kai Kai Pukaarai ॥14॥

The persistent warriors were shouting “Kill, Kill”.14.

ਤਬੇ ਅਸਟ ਹਾਥੰ ਹਥਿਯਾਰੰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥

Tabe Asatta Haathaan Hathiyaaraan Saanbhaare ॥

The goddess held eight weapons in her eitht hands,

ਸਿਰੰ ਦਾਨਵੇਂਦ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੇ ਤਾਕਿ ਝਾਰੇ ॥

Srin Daanvenadaraan Ke Taaki Jhaare ॥

And hit them on the heads of chief demons.

ਬਬਕਿਯੋ ਬਲੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੁਧੰ ਮਝਾਰੰ ॥

Babakiyo Balee Siaangha Judhaan Majhaaraan ॥

The demon-king rored like a lion in the battlefield,

ਕਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡੰ ਸੁ ਜੋਧਾ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥੧੫॥

Kare Khaanda Khaandaan Su Jodhaa Apaaraan ॥15॥

And chopped into bits, many great warriors.15.

ਤਬ ਦਾਨਵ ਰੋਸ ਭਰੇ ਸਬ ਹੀ ॥

Taba Daanva Rosa Bhare Saba Hee ॥

All the demons were filled with anger,

ਜਗ ਮਾਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਣ ਲਗੈ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥

Jaga Maata Ke Baan Lagai Jaba Hee ॥

When the were pierced by the arrows of the Mother of the worls.

ਬਿਬਿਧਾਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਬਲੀ ਹਰਖੇ ॥
