Somewhere the dances are accomplished and somewhere songs are sung !

ਕਹੂੰ ਕਰਤ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਉਚਾਰ ॥

Kahooaan Karta Saastar Siaanmriti Auchaara ॥

Somewhere the Shastras and Smritis are recited !

ਕਈ ਭਜਤ ਏਕ ਪਗ ਨਿਰਾਧਾਰ ॥੧੭॥੧੩੭॥

May pray stading on a single foot ! 17. 137

ਕਈ ਨੇਹ ਦੇਹ ਕਈ ਗੇਹ ਵਾਸ ॥

Kaeee Neha Deha Kaeee Geha Vaasa ॥

Many are attached to their bodies and many reside in their homes !

ਕਈ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸਨ ਉਦਾਸ ॥

Kaeee Bharmata Desa Desan Audaasa ॥

Many wander in various countries as hermits !

ਕਈ ਜਲ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਈ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਾਪ ॥

Kaeee Jala Nivaasa Kaeee Agani Taapa ॥

Many live in water and many endure the heat of fire !

ਕਈ ਜਪਤ ਉਰਧ ਲਟਕੰਤ ਜਾਪ ॥੧੮॥੧੩੮॥

Kaeee Japata Aurdha Lattakaanta Jaapa ॥18॥138॥

Many worship the Lord with face upside down ! 18. 138

ਕਈ ਜਪਤ ਜੋਗ ਕਲਪੰ ਪ੍ਰਜੰਤ ॥

Kaeee Japata Joga Kalapaan Parjaanta ॥

Many practice Yoga for various kalpas (ages) !

ਨਹੀ ਤਦਪਿ ਤਾਸ ਪਾਯਤ ਨ ਅੰਤ ॥

Nahee Tadapi Taasa Paayata Na Aanta ॥

Still they cannot know the Lord’s end !

ਕਈ ਕਰਤ ਕੋਟ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥

Kaeee Karta Kotta Bidiaa Bichaara ॥

Many a million indulge in the study of sciences !

ਨਹੀ ਤਦਪਿ ਦਿਸਟਿ ਦੇਖੇ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧੯॥੧੩੯॥

Nahee Tadapi Disatti Dekhe Muraari ॥19॥139॥

Still they cannot behold the Sight of the Lord ! 19. 139

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਕਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਰਤ ਪਾਨ ॥

Binu Bhagati Sakati Nahee Parta Paan ॥

Without the power of devotion they cannot realise the Lord !

ਬਹੁ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਮ ਅਰੁ ਜਗ ਦਾਨ ॥

Bahu Karta Homa Aru Jaga Daan ॥

Though they perform havens hold Yagyas (sacrifices) and offer charities !

ਬਿਨੁ ਏਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਕ ਚਿਤ ਲੀਨ ॥

Binu Eeka Naamu Eika Chita Leena ॥

Without the single-minded absorption in he Lord’s Name !

ਫੋਕਟੋ ਸਰਬ ਧਰਮਾ ਬਿਹੀਨ ॥੨੦॥੧੪੦॥

Phokatto Sarab Dharmaa Biheena ॥20॥140॥

All the religious rituals are useless ! 20. 140

ਜੈ ਜੰਪਹਿ ਜੁਗਣ ਜੂਹ ਜੁਅੰ ॥

Jai Jaanpahi Jugan Jooha Juaan ॥

Gather ye together and shout victory to that Lord !

ਭੈ ਕੰਪਹਿ ਮੇਰੁ ਪਯਾਲ ਭੁਅੰ ॥

Bhai Kaanpahi Meru Payaala Bhuaan ॥

In whose Fear tremble the heaven nether-world and the earth !

ਤਪ ਤਾਪਸ ਸਰਬ ਜਲੇਰੁ ਥਲੰ ॥

Tapa Taapasa Sarab Jaleru Thalaan ॥

For whose realization all the ascetics of water and land perform austerities !

ਧੰਨਿ ਉਚਰਤ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੁਮੇਰ ਬਲੰ ॥੧॥੧੪੧॥
