ਸੁਮਤਿ ਬਾਢਿਯਹਿ ਤਬੈ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
Sumati Baadhiyahi Tabai Auchaaro ॥
ਸੁਨੁ ਗੀਗੋ ਤੈ ਬਚਨ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
Sunu Geego Tai Bachan Hamaaro ॥
The carpenter, named Sumat asked one day, ‘Gigo (the wife), listen what I have to say.
ਹੌ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਪਰਦੇਸ ਸਿਧੈਹੌਂ ॥
Hou Aba Hee Pardesa Sidhaihouna ॥
ਖਾਟਿ ਕਮਾਇ ਤੁਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਲਯੈਹੌਂ ॥੨॥
Khaatti Kamaaei Tumai Dhanu Layaihouna ॥2॥
I am going abroad, and will come back after earning lot of money.’(2)
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਪਰਦੇਸ ਸਿਧਾਰੋ ॥
You Kahi Kai Pardesa Sidhaaro ॥
ਖਾਟ ਤਰੇ ਛਪਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥
Khaatta Tare Chhapi Rahiyo Bichaaro ॥
Saying so, presumably he went abroad, but, as a matter of fact, he hid himself under the bed.
ਤਬ ਬਾਢਿਨ ਇਕ ਜਾਰ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
Taba Baadhin Eika Jaara Bulaayo ॥
ਕਾਮਕੇਲ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਕਮਾਯੋ ॥੩॥

Then lady-carpenter called her paramour and revelled in making love with him.(3)

ਖਾਟ ਤਰੇ ਨਿਜੁ ਪਤਿਹਿ ਪਛਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
Khaatta Tare Niju Patihi Pachhaanio ॥
While having sex-play, she discovered her husband lying under the bed.
ਸਭ ਅੰਗਨ ਬਿਹਬਲ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥
Sabha Aangan Bihbala Havai Gaeee ॥
ਚਿਤ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਅਤਿ ਭਈ ॥੪॥
Chita Ke Bikhi Dukhita Ati Bhaeee ॥4॥
Her whole body started to ache and felt much remorse at heart.(4)
ਤਬ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥

ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾ ਕਰਤ ਦਈ ਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
Muhi Kaa Karta Daeee Ke Maare ॥
Then the woman said to her lover, ‘Oh, my Lord what are you doing.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਨਾਥ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Paraan Naatha Mere Ghar Naahee ॥
ਹੌ ਜਿਹ ਬਸਤ ਬਾਹ ਕੀ ਛਾਹੀ ॥੫॥
