The heroic warriors like Narsingh, Gaj Singh, Dhan Singh moved forward

ਹਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਡੋ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਰੇਸ ਤਹਾ ਕੋ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਦਿਜ ਕੋ ਧਨ ਦੈ ॥

Haree Siaangha Bado Ran Siaangha Naresa Tahaa Ko Chaliyo Dija Ko Dhan Dai ॥

The kings like Hari Singh, Ran Singh etc. also moved after giving alms to the Brahmins

ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸੋ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਬਹੁਬੀਰ ਚਮੂੰ ਸੁ ਘਨੀ ਹਨਿ ਕੈ ॥

Jadubeera So Jaaei Kai Judha Kariyo Bahubeera Chamooaan Su Ghanee Hani Kai ॥

ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਬਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਹਨੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਨਿ ਜੈ ॥੧੦੮੮॥

Hari Aoopri Baan Aneka Hane Eih Bhaanti Kahiyo Hamaree Rani Jai ॥1088॥

The large army of four divisions moved and fought with Krishna and hailing themselves, they discharged many arrows on Krishna.1088.

ਹੋਇ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਇਤੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਯੌ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਵਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

Hoei Eikatar Eite Nripa You Hari Aoopra Baan Chalaavan Laage ॥

On this side all the kings gathered together and began to discharge arrows upon Krishna

ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਇਕ ਤੇ ਪਗ ਦੁਇ ਕਰਿ ਆਗੇ ॥

Kopa Kai Judha Kariyo Tin Hooaan Brijanaaeika Te Paga Duei Kari Aage ॥

Moving two steps forward, they in fury, fought with Krishna

ਜੀਵ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਉ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਤਬੈ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਰਸ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੇ ॥

Jeeva Kee Aasa Kau Taiaagi Tabai Saba Hee Rasa Rudar Bikhi Anuraage ॥

They were all absorbed in war, leaving the hope of their survival

ਚੀਰ ਧਰੇ ਸਿਤ ਆਏ ਹੁਤੇ ਛਿਨ ਬੀਚ ਭਏ ਸਭ ਆਰੁਨ ਬਾਗੇ ॥੧੦੮੯॥

Cheera Dhare Sita Aaee Hute Chhin Beecha Bhaee Sabha Aaruna Baage ॥1089॥

The white garments worn by the warriors became red in an instant.1089.

ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਬੀਰਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਥ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਕਰਨੈ ਸੇ ॥

Judha Kariyo Tin Beeran Saiaam So Paaratha Jaio Risa Kai Karni Se ॥

The warriors greatly infuriated, waged such a war with Krishna, which was waged earlier by Arjuna with Karana

ਕੋਪ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਬਹੁ ਸੈਨ ਹਨੀ ਬਲਿਭਦ੍ਰ ਅਰਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਭੂ ਮਧਿ ਐਸੇ ॥

Kopa Bhariyo Bahu Sain Hanee Balibhadar Ariyo Ran Bhoo Madhi Aaise ॥

Balram also in anger and standing firmly in the field destroyed a great part of the army

ਬੀਰ ਫਿਰੈ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਂਗਨਿ ਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਬਲਦੇਵਹਿ ਕੈਸੇ ॥

Beera Phrii Kari Saangani Lai Tih Gheri Layo Baladevahi Kaise ॥

ਜੋਰਿ ਸੋ ਸਾਕਰਿ ਤੋਰਿ ਘਿਰਿਯੋ ਮਦ ਮਤ ਕਰੀ ਗਢਦਾਰਨ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧੦੯੦॥

Jori So Saakari Tori Ghiriyo Mada Mata Karee Gadhadaaran Jaise ॥1090॥

Holding their lances and swinging the warriors encircled Balram like the intoxicated elephant freeing himself from the steel-chains with his strength, but was entrapped in a deep pit.1090.

ਰਨਭੂਮਿ ਮੈ ਜੁਧ ਭਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਮਰੇ ਰਿਪੁ ਆਏ ਹੈ ਜੋਊ ॥

Ranbhoomi Mai Judha Bhayo Ati Hee Tatakaal Mare Ripu Aaee Hai Joaoo ॥

There was a fierce fighting in the battlefield and the king who came there, was instantly killed

ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਘਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਘਨੋ ਉਤ ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭਟ ਓਊ ॥

Judha Kariyo Ghani Saiaam Ghano Auta Kopa Bhare Man Mai Bhatta Aooo ॥

On this side Krishna waged a dreadful war and on the other side, the warriors of the enemy were filled with great rage

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਜੂ ਬਾਨ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਜਿਹ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਅਉਰ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥

Sree Narsiaangha Joo Baan Hanio Hari Ko Jih Kee Sama Aaur Na Koaoo ॥

ਯੌ ਉਪਮਾ ਉਪਜੀ ਜੀਯ ਮੈ ਜਿਵ ਸੋਵਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਗਾਵਤ ਕੋਊ ॥੧੦੯੧॥

You Aupamaa Aupajee Jeeya Mai Jiva Sovata Siaangha Jagaavata Koaoo ॥1091॥

Narsingh discharged his arrow towards Krishna in such a way as if someone was desirous of awaking the sleeping lion.1091.

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਬਾਨ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਗਡ ਕੈ ਸੋਊ ਪੰਖਨ ਲਉ ਸੁ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Saiaam Ke Baan Lagiyo Aur Mai Gada Kai Soaoo Paankhn Lau Su Gayo Hai ॥

An arrow struck the chest of Krishna and penetrated upto the feathers

ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਸਰ ਅੰਗ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਤਬੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Saruna Ke Saangi Bhariyo Sar Aanga Biloki Tabai Hari Kopa Bhayo Hai ॥

The arrow was filled with blood and seeing his blood flowing out from his limbs, Krishna was highly enraged

ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਉਚ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤ ਦਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Taa Chhabi Ko Jasu Aucha Mahaa Kabi Ne Kahi Kai Eih Bhaanta Dayo Hai ॥

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਤਛਕ ਕੋ ਲਰਿਕਾ ਖਗਰਾਜ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਗਹਿ ਨੀਲ ਲਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੯੨॥

Maanhu Tachhaka Ko Larikaa Khgaraaja Lakhiyo Gahi Neela Layo Hai ॥1092॥

This spectacle appears like Garuda, the king of birds, swallowing the son of the great serpent Takshak.1092.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਸਰੁ ਰਾਜਨ ਬੀਚ ਕਸਾ ॥

Sree Brijanaatha Saraasan Lai Risa Kai Saru Raajan Beecha Kasaa ॥

In great fury, Krishna tightened the arrow on the string of the bow and discharged it towards Gaj Singh

ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋ ਬਾਨ ਅਚਾਨ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਗਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਜਨ ਸਾਪ ਡਸਾ ॥

Gaja Siaangha Ko Baan Achaan Hanio Gri Bhoomi Pariyo Jan Saapa Dasaa ॥

Gaj Singh fell down on the earth as if a snake had stung him

ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੁ ਠਾਂਢੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਿਹ ਪੈ ਸੋਊ ਭਾਜ ਗਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਪੇਖਿ ਦਸਾ ॥

Hari Siaangha Ju Tthaandho Huto Tih Pai Soaoo Bhaaja Gayo Tih Pekhi Dasaa ॥

ਮਨੋ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਟਿਕਿਯੋ ਜੁ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਸਟਕਾਇ ਸਸਾ ॥੧੦੯੩॥

Mano Siaangha Ko Roop Nihaarata Hee Na Ttikiyo Ju Chaliyo Sattakaaei Sasaa ॥1093॥

Hari Singh who was standing near him, seeing his plight, fled away like a hare seeing the figure of a lion.1093.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਬੈ ਤਜਿ ਖੇਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਉਠਿਯੋ ਪੁਨਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਰਿਯੋ ॥

Hari Siaangha Jabai Taji Kheta Chaliyo Ran Siaangha Autthiyo Puni Kopa Bhariyo ॥

When Hari Singh ran away from the battlefield, then Ran Singh arose again in great ire

ਧਨੁ ਬਾਨ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਨਿ ਲਯੋ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਬਲਿ ਕੋ ਰਨਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥

Dhanu Baan Saanbhaara Kai Paani Layo Bahuro Bali Ko Rani Judhu Kariyo ॥

He held up his bow and arrows using his strength and began to fight

ਉਨ ਹੂੰ ਪੁਨਿ ਬੀਚ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਇਉ ਉਚਰਿਯੋ ॥

Auna Hooaan Puni Beecha Ayodhan Ke Hari Ko Lalakaara Kai Eiau Auchariyo ॥

ਅਬ ਜਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਹੁ ਘਰੀ ਹਮਰੇ ਅਸਿ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਹਾਥ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦੯੪॥

Aba Jaata Kahaa Thiru Hohu Gharee Hamare Asi Kaal Ke Haatha Pariyo ॥1094॥

He challenged Krishna in the field saying “now stop for a while, where are you going? You have fallen in the hands of death.”1094.

ਆਇ ਅਰਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਧਨੁ ਲੈ ਰਨ ਕੀ ਛਿਤ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਪੈਗ ਪਰਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥

Aaei Ariyo Hari Siau Dhanu Lai Ran Kee Chhita Te Nahee Paiga Paraanio ॥

He also came forward in order to fight with Krishna and did not recede

ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਲਛਨ ਤੇ ਪਹਚਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥

Kopa Kai Baata Kahee Jadubeera So Mai Eih Lachhan Te Pahachaanio ॥

ਆਇ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਕੀਓ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਸੁ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਹਾਥ ਬਿਕਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥੧੦੯੫॥

Aaei Kai Judha Keeao Hama So Su Bhalee Bidhi Kaal Ke Haatha Bikaanio ॥1095॥

He addressed Krishna in anger, “He, who fights with me, consider him fallen in the hands of death.”1095.

ਯੌ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਆ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਧਨੁ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਮੁਸਕ੍ਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

You Suna Kai Bateeaa Tih Kee Hari Joo Dhanu Lai Kar Mai Muskaio Hai ॥

Hearing his words, Krishna took his bow in his hand

ਦੀਰਘੁ ਗਾਤ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਰ ਛਾਡਿ ਦਯੋ ਅਰ ਸੀਸ ਤਕ੍ਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Deeraghu Gaata Lakhiyo Taba Hee Sar Chhaadi Dayo Ar Seesa Takaio Hai ॥

Seeing his large body and aiming his arrow on his head, he discharged it

ਬਾਨ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਬੈ ਸਿਰ ਟੂਟਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਧਰ ਠਾਂਢੋ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Baan Lagiyo Hari Siaangha Tabai Sri Ttootti Pariyo Dhar Tthaandho Rahiyo Hai ॥

With the stroke of his arrow, the head of Hari Singh was chopped and his trunk remained standing

ਮੇਰੁ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਹੁ ਤੇ ਉਤਰਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਮਨੋ ਰਵਿ ਅਸਤ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਿ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੯੬॥

Meru Ke Sringahu Te Autariyo Su Mano Ravi Asata Ko Paraati Bhayo Hai ॥1096॥

The redness of blood on his body seemed to suggest that the sun of his head on Sumeru mountain had set and again the redness of the early morn was spreading.

ਮਾਰ ਲਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਬੈ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਬੈ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

Maara Layo Hari Siaangha Jabai Ran Siaangha Tabai Hari Aoopri Dhaayo ॥

When Krishna killed Hari Singh, then Ran Singh fell upon him

ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥

Baan Kamaan Kripaan Gadaa Gahi Kai Kar Mai Ati Judha Machaayo ॥

He waged a dreadful war holding his weapons bow and arrows, swords, mace etc.

ਕੌਚ ਸਜੇ ਨਿਜ ਅੰਗ ਮਹਾ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥

Koucha Saje Nija Aanga Mahaa Lakhi Kai Kabi Ne Eih Baata Sunaayo ॥

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਮਤ ਕਰੀ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਰਾਜ ਕੇ ਊਪਰ ਆਯੋ ॥੧੦੯੭॥

Maanhu Mata Karee Ban Mai Risa Kai Mrigaraaja Ke Aoopra Aayo ॥1097॥

Seeing his limbs bedecked with his armour, the poet says that it appeared to him that an intoxicated elephant, in his fury, fell upon a lion.1097.

ਆਇ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਕੀ ਛਿਤਿ ਤੇ ਪਗੁ ਏਕ ਨ ਭਾਗਿਯੋ ॥

Aaei Ke Saiaam So Judhu Kariyo Ran Kee Chhiti Te Pagu Eeka Na Bhaagiyo ॥

He came and fought with Krishna and did not even recede one step

ਫੇਰਿ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭੂਖਨ ਕੋ ਤਨੁ ਤਾੜਨ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ॥

Pheri Gadaa Gahi Kai Kar Mai Brijabhookhn Ko Tanu Taarhan Laagiyo ॥

Then he took up his mace in his hand and began to strike his blows on the body of Krishna

ਸੋ ਮਧਸੂਦਨ ਜੂ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਰਸ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਤਿ ਇਹ ਪਾਗਿਯੋ ॥

So Madhasoodan Joo Lakhiyo Rasa Rudar Bikhi Ati Eih Paagiyo ॥

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਲਯੋ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਭੂਅ ਬਕ੍ਰ ਕਰੀ ਰਿਸ ਸੋ ਅਨੁਰਾਗਿਯੋ ॥੧੦੯੮॥

Sree Hari Chakar Layo Kar Mai Bhooa Bakar Karee Risa So Anuraagiyo ॥1098॥

Seeing all this, Krishna was filled with great anger, he tilted his eyebrows and took his discus in his hand in order to knock him down on the ground.1098.

ਲੈ ਬਰਛੀ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਬੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਨ ਕਾਜ ਚਲਾਈ ॥

Lai Barchhee Ran Siaangha Tabai Jadubeera Ke Maaran Kaaja Chalaaeee ॥

ਜਾਇ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਅਨਚੇਤ ਦਈ ਭੁਜ ਫੋਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥

Jaaei Lagee Hari Ko Ancheta Daeee Bhuja Phora Kai Paari Dikhaaeee ॥

At the same time, taking his danger in his hand, Ran Singh gave its blow to Krishna, the Yadava hero, in order to kill him

ਲਾਗ ਰਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਕਬਿ ਭਾਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥

Laaga Rahee Parbha Ke Tan Siau Aupamaa Tih Kee Kabi Bhaakhi Sunaaeee ॥

It suddenly struck Krishna and tearing his right arm, it penetrated to the other side

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਗ੍ਰੀਖਮ ਕੀ ਰੁਤਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਨਾਗਨਿ ਚੰਦਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥੧੦੯੯॥

Maanhu Gareekhma Kee Ruti Bheetr Naagani Chaandan Siau Lapattaaeee ॥1099॥

Piercing the body of Krishna it appeared like a female serpent coiling a sandalwood tree in summer season.1099.

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਉਖਾਰ ਕੈ ਸੋ ਬਰਛੀ ਭੁਜ ਤੇ ਅਰਿ ਮਾਰਨ ਹੇਤ ਚਲਾਈ ॥

Saiaam Aukhaara Kai So Barchhee Bhuja Te Ari Maaran Heta Chalaaeee ॥

Krishna extracting the same dagger from his arm, set it in motion in order to kill the enemy

ਬਾਨਨ ਕੇ ਘਨ ਬੀਚ ਚਲੀ ਚਪਲਾ ਕਿਧੌ ਹੰਸ ਕੀ ਅੰਸ ਤਚਾਈ ॥

Baann Ke Ghan Beecha Chalee Chapalaa Kidhou Haansa Kee Aansa Tachaaeee ॥

It struck like lighting within the clouds of arrows and appeared like a flying swan

ਜਾਇ ਲਗੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਉਰਿ ਫੋਰਿ ਦਈ ਉਹਿ ਓਰ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥

Jaaei Lagee Tih Ke Tan Mai Auri Phori Daeee Auhi Aor Dikhaaeee ॥

It hit the body of Ran Singh and his chest was seen torn down

ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਭਰੀ ਹਨਿ ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਕੋ ਮਾਰਨ ਧਾਈ ॥੧੧੦੦॥

Kaalikaa Maanhu Saruna Bharee Hani Suaanbha Nisuaanbha Ko Maaran Dhaaeee ॥1100॥

It seemed like Durga, steeped in blood, going to kill Shumbh and Nishumbh.1100.

ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਬੈ ਰਣਿ ਸਾਂਗ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਬੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪੁ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Ran Siaangha Jabai Rani Saanga Hanio Dhan Siaangha Tabai Kari Kopu Sidhaariyo ॥

ਧਾਇ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਬਰਛਾ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਝਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Dhaaei Pariyo Kari Lai Barchhaa Lalakaara Kai Sree Hari Aoopri Jhaariyo ॥

When Ran Singh was killed with the dagger, then Dhan Singh ran in fury and taking his spear in his hand white shouting, he inflicted a blow on Krishna

ਆਵਤ ਸੋ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਘਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਨਿਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਖਗ ਸੁ ਦੁਇ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Aavata So Lakhiyo Ghan Saiaam Nikaara Kai Khga Su Duei Kari Daariyo ॥

Bhoomi Duttooka Hoei Ttootta Pariyo Su Mano Khgaraaja Bado Ahi Maariyo ॥1101॥

Seeing him coming, Krishna took out his sword and with his blow, chopped the enemy into two halves and this spectacle appeared as if the Garuda had killed a huge serpent.1101.

ਘਾਉ ਬਚਾਇ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸਰਾਸਨੁ ਲੈ ਅਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

Ghaau Bachaaei Kai Sree Jadubeera Saraasanu Lai Ari Aoopri Dhaayo ॥

Saving himself from getting wounded, Krishna took up bow and arrows and fell upon the enemy

ਚਾਰ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਜੁਧ ਭਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਇ ਨ ਹੁਇ ਉਹਿ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਘਾਯੋ ॥

Chaara Mahoorata Judha Bhayo Hari Ghaaei Na Huei Auhi Ko Nahee Ghaayo ॥

Battle was fought for four maburats (span of time), in which neither the enemy was killed, nor Krishna was wounded

ਰੋਸ ਕੈ ਬਾਨ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਖੈਚ ਕੈ ਬਾਨ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥

Rosa Kai Baan Hanio Hari Kau Hari Hooaan Tih Khicha Kai Baan Lagaayo ॥

The enemy in his ragedischarged an arrow on Krishna and from this side Krishna also shot his arrow by pulling his bow

ਦੇਖ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਹੂੰ ਮੁਖ ਦੇਖ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਸਕਾਯੋ ॥੧੧੦੨॥

Dekh Rahiyo Mukh Sree Hari Ko Hari Hooaan Mukh Dekh Rahiyo Muskaayo ॥1102॥

He began to look at the face of Krishna and from this side Krishna on seeing him smilled.1102.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਬੀਰ ਬਲੀ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੈ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

Sree Jadubeera Ko Beera Balee Asi Lai Kar Mai Dhan Siaangha Pai Dhaayo ॥

One of the mighty warriors of Krishna took his sword in his hand and fell upon Dhan Singh

ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਗਜਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਡਰਪਾਯੋ ॥

Aavata Hee Lalakaara Pariyo Gaji Maanhu Kehari Kau Darpaayo ॥

While coming, he shouted so loudly, when it seemed that the elephant had frightened the lion

ਤਉ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਾਸਨੁ ਲੈ ਸਰ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥

Tau Dhan Siaangha Saraasanu Lai Sar So Tih Ko Sri Bhoomi Giraayo ॥

Taking up his bow and arrows Dhan Singh threw his head on the earth

ਜਿਉ ਅਹਿ ਰਾਜ ਕੇ ਆਨਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਆਨਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੧੦੩॥

Jiau Ahi Raaja Ke Aann Bheetr Aani Pariyo Mriga Jaan Na Paayo ॥1103॥

This spectacle seemed like this that a deer had unknowingly fallen in the mouth of a boa.1103.

ਦੂਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਬੀਰ ਸਰਾਸਨੁ ਲੈ ਸਰ ਕੋਪ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Doosar Sree Jadubeera Ke Beera Saraasanu Lai Sar Kopa Bhayo Hai ॥

ਧੀਰ ਬਲੀ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਬਾਨ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Dheera Balee Dhan Siaangha Kee Aor Chalaavata Baan Nisaanka Gayo Hai ॥

A second warrior of Krishna, greatly enraged, taking bow and arrows in his hand, unhesitatingly, marched forward towards mighty Dhan Singh.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਲੀਓ ਅਸਿ ਹਾਥਿ ਕਟਿਓ ਅਰਿ ਮਾਥਨ ਡਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

Sree Dhan Siaangha Leeao Asi Haathi Kattiao Ari Maathan Daara Dayo Hai ॥

Dhan Singh took his sword in his hand and chopped and threw the enemy’s forehead

ਕਾਛੀ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਿਓ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਬਾਰਿਜ ਤੋਰ ਲਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੧੧੦੪॥

Kaachhee Nihaari Sarovar Te Parphuliao Maanhu Baarija Tora Layo Hai ॥1104॥

It appeared like some surveyor, seeing the lotus in the tank had plucked it.1104.

ਮਾਰਿ ਦੁ ਬੀਰਨ ਕੋ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਦਲ ਕਉ ਤਕਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

Maari Du Beeran Ko Dhan Siaangha Saraasan Lai Dala Kau Taki Dhaayo ॥

ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਗਜਿ ਬਾਜ ਹਨੇ ਰਥ ਪੈਦਲ ਕਾਟਿ ਘਨੋ ਰਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥

Aavata Hee Gaji Baaja Hane Ratha Paidala Kaatti Ghano Ran Paayo ॥

Killing the two warriors, mighty Dhan Singh, taking his bow and arrows in his hand, fell upon the army and waged a dreadful war and chopped elephants, horses, charioteers and soldiers on foot

ਖਗ ਅਲਾਤ ਕੀ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਖਰ ਸਾਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਕੋ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਲਜਾਯੋ ॥

Khga Alaata Kee Bhaanti Phiriao Khra Saan Nripaala Ko Chhatar Lajaayo ॥

His dagger was gleaming like fire, seeing which the canopy of the king was feeling shy

ਅਉਰ ਭਲੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਲਖਿ ਭੀਖਮ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਯੋ ॥੧੧੦੫॥

Aaur Bhalee Aupamaa Tih Kee Lakhi Bheekhma Kau Hari Chakar Bharmaayo ॥1105॥

He looked like that Bhishma, seeing whom Krishna began to revolve his discus.1105.

ਬਹੁਰੋ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਾਸਨੁ ਲੈ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਅਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਲ ਮਾਝਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥

Bahuro Dhan Siaangha Saraasanu Lai Risa Kai Ari Ke Dala Maajhi Pariyo ॥

Then Dhan Singh, taking his bow and arrows in his hand, angrily penetrated into the ranks of the enemy

ਰਥਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਘਨੇ ਗਜ ਬਾਜ ਹਨੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਗਨੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਲਰਿਯੋ ॥

Rathi Kaatti Ghane Gaja Baaja Hane Nahee Jaata Gane Eih Bhaanti Lariyo ॥

He waged such a fierce battle that the broken chariots and chopped elephants and horses cannot be counted

ਜਮਲੋਕੁ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਪਠਏ ਹਰਿ ਓਰ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਰਿਯੋ ॥

Jamaloku Su Beera Kite Patthaee Hari Aor Chaliyo Ati Kopa Bhariyo ॥

He sent many a warrior to the abode of Yama and then in rage, he marched towards Krishna

ਮੁਖ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਦਲੁ ਜਾਦਵ ਕੋ ਸਿਗਰੋ ਬਿਡਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੧੦੬॥

Mukh Maara Hee Maara Pukaari Pariyo Dalu Jaadava Ko Sigaro Bidariyo ॥1106॥

He shouted “kill, kill” from his mouth and seeing him, the forces of Yadavas broke into fragments.1106.
