ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇ ॥

Mai Man Than Birahu Ath Agalaa Kio Preetham Milai Ghar Aae ||

Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?

ਜਾ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

Jaa Dhaekhaa Prabh Aapanaa Prabh Dhaekhiai Dhukh Jaae ||

When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.

ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਾ ਤਿਨ ਸਜਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥

Jaae Pushhaa Thin Sajanaa Prabh Kith Bidhh Milai Milaae ||1||

I go and ask my friends, ""How can I meet and merge with God?""||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

Maerae Sathiguraa Mai Thujh Bin Avar N Koe ||

O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Ham Moorakh Mugadhh Saranaagathee Kar Kirapaa Maelae Har Soe ||1|| Rehaao ||

I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

Sathigur Dhaathaa Har Naam Kaa Prabh Aap Milaavai Soe ||

The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥

Ho Gur Saranaaee Dtehi Pavaa Kar Dhaeiaa Maelae Prabh Soe ||2||

I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. ||2||

ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਥਕੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

Manehath Kinai N Paaeiaa Kar Oupaav Thhakae Sabh Koe ||

No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥

Sehas Siaanap Kar Rehae Man Korai Rang N Hoe ||

Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord's Love.

ਕੂੜਿ ਕਪਟਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਖਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥

Koorr Kapatt Kinai N Paaeiou Jo Beejai Khaavai Soe ||3||

By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. Whatever you plant, you shall eat. ||3||

ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

Sabhanaa Thaeree Aas Prabh Sabh Jeea Thaerae Thoon Raas ||

O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥

Prabh Thudhhahu Khaalee Ko Nehee Dhar Guramukhaa No Saabaas ||

O God, none return from You empty-handed; at Your Door, the Gurmukhs are praised and acclaimed.

ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਕਢਿ ਲੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੬੫॥

Bikh Bhoujal Ddubadhae Kadt Lai Jan Naanak Kee Aradhaas ||4||1||65||

In the terrifying world-ocean of poison, people are drowning-please lift them up and save them! This is servant Nanak's humble prayer. ||4||1||65||
