ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
ਦੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਿਮਰੀ ਤਹ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ ਜਮੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਡਰਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਖਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੧੬॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
In the Lord's service, are the greatest treasures.
Serving the Lord, the Ambrosial Naam comes into one's mouth. ||1||
The Lord is my Companion; He is with me, as my Help and Support.
In pain and pleasure, whenever I remember Him, He is present. How can the poor Messenger of Death frighten me now? ||1||Pause||
The Lord is my Support; the Lord is my Power.
The Lord is my Friend; He is my mind's advisor. ||2||
The Lord is my capital; the Lord is my credit.
As Gurmukh, I earn the wealth, with the Lord as my Banker. ||3||
By Guru's Grace, this wisdom has come.
Servant Nanak has merged into the Being of the Lord. ||4||16||

nullnull(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ-ਇਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਲੁਕਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥null(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਦੁੱਖ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਖ ਵੇਲੇ (ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਉਥੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੋ, ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਜਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਥੇ ਡਰਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥null(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥nullਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ) ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਸ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ) ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਸਾਖ ਹੈ (ਇਤਬਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਹੈ)। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਕਮਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥nullਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਵਪਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੬॥
