ਸੂਲ ਸਹੋਂ ਤਨ ਸੂਕ ਰਹੋਂ ਪਰ ਸੀ ਨ ਕਹੋਂ ਸਿਰ ਸੂਲ ਸਹੋਂਗੀ ॥

Soola Sahona Tan Sooka Rahona Par See Na Kahona Sri Soola Sahonagee ॥

“If the thorns sting and the body pines away, I shall endure the hardship of the thorn on my head.

ਬਾਘ ਬੁਕਾਰ ਫਨੀਨ ਫੁਕਾਰ ਸੁ ਸੀਸ ਗਿਰੋ ਪਰ ਸੀ ਨ ਕਹੋਂਗੀ ॥

Baagha Bukaara Phaneena Phukaara Su Seesa Giro Par See Na Kahonagee ॥

”If the tigers and serpents fall on my head, even then I shall not utter ‘oh’ or ‘alas’.

ਬਾਸ ਕਹਾ ਬਨਬਾਸ ਭਲੋ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਸ ਤਜੋ ਪੀਯ ਪਾਇ ਗਹੋਂਗੀ ॥

Baasa Kahaa Banbaasa Bhalo Nahee Paasa Tajo Peeya Paaei Gahonagee ॥

“For me the exile in the forest is good for me than the palace, O beloved ! bow at your feet.

ਹਾਸ ਕਹਾ ਇਹ ਉਦਾਸ ਸਮੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਸ ਰਹੋ ਪਰ ਮੈ ਨ ਰਹੋਂਗੀ ॥੨੪੯॥
