ਬੁਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਭਈ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਰੀ ॥੧॥
ਐਸੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਈਅਲੇ ॥
ਬੂਡਤ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਕਸਿਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਹਾ ਅਗਾਹ ਅਗਨਿ ਕਾ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੁ ॥੨॥
ਦੁਤਰ ਅੰਧ ਬਿਖਮ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਕਛੁ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੪॥੨੬॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
My intellect has been enlightened, and my understanding is perfect.
Thus my evil-mindedness, which kept me far from Him, has been removed. ||1||
Such are the Teachings which I have received from the Guru;
While I was drowning in the pitch black well, I was saved, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
The Guru is the boat to cross over the totally unfathomable ocean of fire;
He is treasure of jewels. ||2||
This ocean of Maya is dark and treacherous.
The Perfect Guru has revealed the way to cross over it. ||3||
I do not have the ability to chant or practice intense meditation.
Guru Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||4||26||

nullnull(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ) ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਉਕਾਈ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਥ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥nullਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਮਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥null(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਬੜਾ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਇਸ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥null(ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!) ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਰਸਤਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥nullਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਕੋਈ ਜਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਤਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈ) ॥੪॥੨੬॥
